English Language Arts Grade 4

        

By the end of fourth grade, students who are making adequate progress in reading/writing are able to:

  1. Master writing a proper sentence. Including subject and predicate (sometimes implied) along with proper capitalization and punctuation.

=        We will measure by daily writing and grades.

  1. Master writing a paragraph with a topic sentence followed by details and examples.

=        We will measure by daily writing and grades.

  1. Construct writing an essay of at least three paragraphs clearly conveying the main idea and including #’s 1 and 2.

=        We will measure by observing student work.

  1. ALL students should be reading at or above grade level scoring 26, 27, 28, or higher on the Rigby’s from Sept. -June including being able to comprehend the material being read.
=        We will measure by using Rigby’s 3-4 times a year and “fly-by’s” using short passages from all subject areas.
