Parents and Guardians:
We are now in the cold, flu, and virus season. With so many people congregating in one place, it’s unavoidable.
On a daily basis, the staff and faculty are wiping down surfaces and frequent contact points with antibacterial wipes. This includes door knobs, desks, phones and so on. We are also encouraging proper hand washing.
In order to insure everyone’s health, we ask that you keep your child home for at least 24 hours following a high fever or vomiting. This timeframe gives the student’s body a better chance to fight the invading germ or bacteria and to recover their health. Also, since the human body sheds most of the virus or bacteria during the initial phases of the illness, keeping your child home for 24 hours reduces the risk of contaminating other staff, students and the community at large.
We also realize that childcare can be a major issue in sending your student to school or not, but please consider the potential health risk in sending your child to school before they are well.
School attendance is very important to us as well. But please remember that when a student is sick and in school, they are not functioning at their best. They may be spending a great deal of their day in the nurse’s office or distracting other students in the classroom; inhibiting the classroom learning process.
Please feel free to call your school nurse if you are unsure if your child should stay home or not. Any of the nurses would be happy to talk about your individual circumstances.
